Tarquin’s are sponsoring the Cornwall polo team on Friday 19 May

Southwestern Distillery is an independent, family run company handcrafting high-end spirits, in tiny batches, on the coast of north Cornwall. Founder and head distiller, Tarquin Leadbetter set up the company in 2013 at the tender age of 24. Drawn by his love for surfing and the potential of a life distilling next to the beach he taught himself the art of distilling from scratch. Using as traditional methods as possible, Tarquin still heats his 150 litre copper pot still with a direct naked flame (his trusty paella burner ring) and seals the top of the still with bread dough.

Each batch produces only 220 bottles per run, which are all filled, labeled, waxed, stamped and signed all by hand. Within the first year of having taught himself how to distil, Tarquin released his flagship product – Tarquin’s Cornish Dry Gin. Within that same year he was awarded one of only six Gold Medals from the IWSC for all International Gins, a remarkable achievement.

Bursting with fresh citrus notes; piney juniper, sherbety coriander and sweet liquorice on the palette; and floral violets on the finish – Tarquin’s Cornish Dry Gin is a celebration of all thing craft and Cornish.

Tarquin’s will have a Tarquins gin and pastis bar on the beach for the three days of polo. They will be serving their limited edition tenth anniversary ‘Polo on the Beach’ gin by the glass and by the bottle. Only 220 bottles will be made.
